Was everyone surprised? I had been spoiled before hand, so I wasn't really, but were any of you?
Reactions?

A little because I didn't think he would to be honest. I thought he was going to hold it in a bit longer. But that whole outburst was asking for it in a way like the whole situation. It seemed they were letting all the cards on the table.

You're not blabbering, Michael. Pacey got suspended because he had a go at the teacher who forced Jack to the read poem. I *think* he spat at him, which I do not condone but I completely agreed with Pacey sticking up for Jack.
I was kind of surprised by it, only because of the Joey thing, but I thought they did it really well.

Great thread topic!
I remember being surprised. I just thought Jack was there to come between Joey and Dawson and then after the dance episode with him and Jen and when him and Jen have that scene in the classroom I started to think that after the Joey thing had ran it's course the writers would put him and Jen together.
That being said I thought the whole story arc was so well done. When it starts with the poem and Pacey defending Jack and then the whole group has different reactions and we get to see how it effects all of the main characters, not just Jack. I cry every time I watch the episode where he finally comes out to his dad. That scene and then the scenes with his dad at the end of season 3 after he kisses Ethan are Kerr's best work. Also I love how over the years the writers were always true to the character of Jack. They never played into the stereotypes of gay characters in television.

Yes, I was surprised. I did not think about it, or see it coming, until he wrote that song. But when they started talking about it, I knew he's going to turn out gay.
