I haven't read the books (I actually plan on starting the first soon), and obviously haven't seen the series.
I've heard mixed reviews on it, with most tending to be un-favorable.
For those that do watch it, and based on my preferences (Scattered throughout the forum lol), do you think I'd enjoy it?

I'm inclined to say that if you love Buffy and DC, you'll totally be into this. The books are phenomenal, too, but the TV series is something else. Plus, you have a top cast to carry it; Nina Dobrev from Degrassi: TNG, Ian Somerhalder from Lost and Paul Wesley, who you may remember as Donnie in The OC. Plus, Kevin Williamson is definitely back on form behind his keyboard, making this, in my opinion, the most compelling drama on TV right now. Also, ignore the bad reviews totally. From what I've seen, most of them come to that conclusion by comparing it to Twilight. Worse still, many of them call it a poor rip-off, which is sacrilege. Stephanie Meyer has all but admitted to 'borrowing' ideas from the books. Yeah, in summation... you need to get yourself caught up ASAP

It definitely didn't sparks my interest, now I watch it if possible, but it's not a mandatory for me. The story line at the beginning was cliche and poor, but it got better after few episodes, and now I'm liking it. The two main actors are average, I like Ian Somerholder (from Lost), he plays the bad ass here, but the untolerable is Stefan, the good one. it's like Edward Cullen all over again Nina Dobrev is a hottie, she is an eye candy. Give it a try!

And don't listen to the Twilight comparison's, I personally can't stand Twilight and really can't see what all the fuss is about but love Vampire Diaries.

I dont think it is as good as buffy and angel that is hard to do. But this one is pretty close it is way better than the twilight franchise this one has wit and is a little more adult. If you have time it is a worth a watch you will probably get into it.

I love this show! It may very well be the best new show on TV! I haven't read the books but the show is awesome. Every week there is some twist in the plot that I just DO NOT see coming. Which is hard to do because if, like me, you watch enough of these teen type shows you start to be able to predict the plot points and the out comes. Great writing by Kevin Williamson! I like Twilight but I am starting to favor the Vampire Diaries story more so.

I agree with you completely I dont know what to expect and i read the books and they go on such a different path which is cool. Kevin Williamson is a amazing writer. I find myself loving this more than twilight by far it has that buffy appeal to it in a way. Yes one of best new shows! ;D

Okay, I'm going to have to give this one a go, I think.
I wish I made more of an effort to watch these things when they're actually starting on TV, it would be so much easier for me lol
