This actually gives me the chance to pose a question: Which show had the better first season, OTH or DC?
For me, the first season of Dawson's Creek is the finest first season of any show ever made. First scene of the pilot established the sexual tension between Dawson and Joey and everything builds perfectly until the last scene of the season finale, where Dawson and Joey kiss. If the show had been cancelled after the first season, DC would still be the greatest teen drama ever made.
That said, OTH had a strong first season with the Lathan war, evil Dan, Jake, the beginnings of Naley and Leyton...
Discuss.

Hmm, tricky question.
I'm going to be biased though and say OTH. As much as I love the DC first season, OTH just had that little more bit more. I loved the characters much more quickly with OTH, they developed more and the situations they experienced just had a little more depth.
Plus I loved the adults in OTH and like I said earlier in this thread I really loved how certain things reflected what had come before.
The adults in DC cannot touch those of OTH and mainly for that reason OTH takes it for me.

That is a tough one for me I think they were both strong. I do love the first season of Dawson's Creek, a lot. I think the thing about One tree hill is it was great but it also had more episodes so it gave it a chance to be established on a really serious note. If I had to choose it is hard because it differs but I really would most likely choose Dawson's creek because I loved a lot of the episodes and the characters during the first season and their moments.

^I'm the opposite because it's OTH's characters and episodes that gripped me straight away. The relationships between the characters felt less forced, even now, probably more so now when I think about it now.
I would quite happily say I think that The O.C had a better first season. OTH and The OC were both so refreshingly fast paced and interesting but that's lacking with DC which, in comparison, is kinda slow lol
They all have strong first seasons, don't get me wrong, not hating here on SC at all, but I would have a better chance of getting my friends into teen dramas with The O.C and OTH, easy.

I vote DC. While neither OTH or DC are the best teen dramas "ever created", imo, DC was easier to relate to and I personally like the setting, writing, and direction more.

Has anyone ever noticed just how similar the characters are from Dawson's Creek and One tree hill? I noticed that during a kind of rewatch and I sat there and was like wow Jen and Brooke are so much alike. I see a little Pacey in Nathan. I don't know if this is because one of the people who worked on DC works on OTH, but I was just wondering if anyone has noticed this?
About the O.C. I will say that had a very strong first season I was shocked how fast I got into that show. I expected not to like it as much and ended up loving it more than OTH at times.

I've never really thought of the characters being similar between OTH and DC. I've always seen Brooke and Summer (OC) as very similar and Ryan/Marissa share a similar 'saving' thing as L/P - although as much as I loved Ryan/Marissa I was never as involved with them as I was with L/P who had a much stronger connection, IMO. But OTH and DC share a similar small town kinda thing - what them both being filmed in Wilmington...I think

I agree with that Peyton I saw a lot of OTH in The O.C. as well. Like you said Summer, but I will say I always loved brooke it took me longer to actually like summer. Also the Ryan/Marissa thing like you said. I see a lot of Lucas and Peyton but not as much they don't have the whole soul mates things with them as much as L&P IMO.

Yeah, I don't really see the OTH/DC characters as being alike.
Brooke and Jen were both the "bad girls" but Jen had much more of a heart than Brooke did. (At least in the earlier seasons.)

Great question! I have spent a lot of time analyzing and comparing OTH and DC over the years and even throwing in The O.C. at times. I have to say to me DC was better. But I think it has a lot to do with the fact that they aired in different time frames and I just remember at the time DC was so ground breaking. The writing was so fresh and I loved the way the show sort of made fun of itself at times. I also liked how over the first 2 seasons every episode started with Dawson and usually Joey or another character watching a movie in his room and the movie would somehow relate to the plot of what that episode was going to be about. I also love how the show is about the fact that Dawson and Joey are soulmates yet they don't end up together. I think KW was right to end it the way he did.

I always love when they make fun of each other and watch movies. Like for example in the season one finale Joey making fun of the cliffhanger and saying nothing changes. I also like you loved the fact that Dawson and Joey didn't end up together.
