So, I genuinely find this season really hard to watch, lol but I decided to stick it on today. And yeah, it's still painful but I also kinda love it.
But to begin on a rant: I think it's usually assumed that Lucas didn't realise how he felt towards Peyton until the kiss in her office before he proposed to Lindsey (which is, obviously, bad enough) but I watched the second episode today and it's so obvious way before then that it makes me even more annoyed with him.
When Peyton sees him at the River Court and she says that she met Lindsey and she seems wonderful, he just laughs bitterly and is more concerned with why she didn't go the signing. And then later when she admits that she was there the way he closes his eyes shows nothing but defeat and regret. I know its a trait with Lucas to be like this but seriously....argh! lol
I think I just find it so hard to watch one of my all time favourite fictional characters behaving so abysmally.
But, I did forget just how adorable Brooke and Jamie together! They're so cute.
So guys, season five? What do you like/what do you loathe? Hit me with it!

I love Jamie he was such a cutie all around with Brooke and Dan. I remember when Dan is like I better get going don't want to look pervy lol Jamie is like huh?? Peyton and Lucas struggled and it did upset me when I saw how Peyton was talking on the phone to brooke i had tears it broke my heart to see her so lost it seemed. It made me even more mad to see Lucas with Lindsey just wasnt right. Lindsey was a nice girl but come one she is not what Lucas wanted it seemed like he was trying to distract himself.
But I will say one of the toughest scenes is where Peyton and Lucas kiss you think they see it now then she goes to his house and Lindsey said Lucas proposed! Her face was just heartbreaking and it made me so mad that Lucas did that! You know you just felt something and you lead poor Lindsey on. Tisk Tisk Lucas lol.

lol, I know. The first time I saw that I totally flipped out. Lucas came so close to being 'unfavourited'! lol
Peyton's face was heartbreaking and it's one of the only times I can safely say I didn't like Lindsey, I found her to be REALLY smug about it. And you could tell with the look on Lucas' face, he couldn't even look Peyton in the eye. He knew he was being stupid. Still, at least he did get it together eventually.
They seriously got lucky finding Jackson Brundage. He made Jamie a character unto his own and it wasn't all hard to watch and cardboard acting, he's awesome! Yeah, him and Dan is always great to watch. I actually find the black and white way Jamie sees everything really gets at your conflicted emotions about Dan.
(There's some great outtakes with Jackson Brundage and Paul Johansson, btw).
Also, I was thinking today: Nanny Carrie? Do you think she was crazy from the start? I mean, I think she was, but I don't know if she always intended to be all over Nathan and stuff. What do you think?

I saw those outtakes they were funny loved them. Yes they did luck out.
I felt Lindsey was purposefully trying to say "hey look he asked me to marry him he is mine" by the way she held the ring and just blurted it out in the manner she did. Thats why I think she got so mad about the ring in the library episode it was like oh wait it was never about me.
I think she had a bad agenda the whole time I don't know if she went after Nathan at first on purpose maybe she found him attractive and then proceeded to do that. I think her plan was to work into their family she did it negatively but I think that was her plan from the start so she could get Jaime.

I love the outtake where Paul Johansson goes to sit on the bed and says 'move your feet you little sh*t' lol!
Yeah, the library episode is a hard one too. I don't like seeing Peyton that way but I can quite easily forgive her because usually she keeps it all in and sacrifices how she feels for other people. So a part of me was also like 'Goooo Peyton!' lol
Yeah, I think I agree about Carrie. I think she saw Nathan as a way of getting to Jamie quicker, but given the season six storyline and her own loss of a child, then yeah I think it was always about getting Jamie.
Brooke/Owen is another thing I was gonna talk about? What did everyone think of them? I think it was a strange choice for Brooke, lol. Do you think they would have lasted if he didn't have all those issues?
And that reminds me of the Rachel storyline in this season which is really sad.

Ugh, that Rachel storyline was so completely stupid. They brought her in for like three episodes and just had her moping around the apartment and then just VANISH.
What happened to the good Rachel from Season 4??

Yes I was like Go peyton because I remember until season 4 when she let loose on Brooke it seemed like she never fought back and I was glad to see her hold her own and let her feelings out.
I love that outtake and do you remember the one off topic of Lucas in season 4 where he slaps that glove dont know how to say it to his hand and does that look as he is going to the victim of Derek that is one of my favorites.
I liked Owen he could have been great but things got in the way, do I think he could have been better for Brooke than Julian nope but he was a good thing for her then. I would have liked to see more of his character though storyline wise.
Rachel that was sad and when Victoria tore her down into pieces it seemed I felt bad for her I wanted her to stay with Brooke and Peyton and get better but I guess that could not happen.

lol, yeah I know the outtake you mean, that one is hilarious. There's also a lot of clips of Chad not being able to make a shot! lol
Yeah, I think she could have been an awesome add to season five, Rachel. Can you imagine the crap she would have stirred with the whole Lucas/Lindsey thing! Ah, it would have been awesome. I always loved the friendship between her and Mouth too.
I must admit I think her becoming a heroin addict was a little bit extreme. Cocaine, or alcohol or something I think would have been better and easier to deal with if she was just going to go 'poof' (poof? poof ;D) again!

I know what you mean, that was a little extreme. Yes she would have stirred the pot alright and I did like her and mouth. She always had a soft spot for him and Brooke I loved when she showed up in the season finale of season 4. I just hated how she poofed I was like oh there is Rachel wait no she is done lol.

When this episode started I was very critical to it. At first I didn't liked it because it couldn't measure up to first 4 season we had. Or first 3, as they come to be my favourites. Now when I look at it, it was kinda interesting, but I was still warmed up to Brucas so whole Peyton/Lucas/Lindsey thing kinda bored me. I loved Brooke/Jamie moments, and I loved the time when Brooke adopted Angie and Lucas helpped her about the baby. That is the time when I stopped wanting Brucas couple and started loving Brucas friends.

this is something else that has always bugged me (like the thing I posted in the season two thread) but I decided to put it in here instead of the Brooke/Lucas thread... Why is Brooke even a possibility at the end of season five/start of six? Lucas has that whole 'pick one' thing (notice how he smiles when Peyton appears and says 'pick one Luke' ) and she's one of the possibilities and I have never understood it? I'm not even saying that as someone who prefers L/P over B/L I just don't think it fit by then y'know?

I think they wanted to give something to Brucas fans. I don't think they wanted to give us hope, I just think they wanted to show us how they can't be together. They're just not meant to be, and they work better then friends now. They had something special, but it's better to keep it in the past. And also, if they left only Lindsey and Peyton it would be too easy, with this they tried to play with our mind.

Well I suppose as a Leyton fan I think it was just as easy a choice with all three of them lol. Lucas kind of admonishes that himself when he says 'I guess I've always known'.
Bringing in the friendship that had developed between them I guess it could have been a case of, are they now at a stage where they can build on that friendship? Maybe.
Did anyone actually think it wouldn't be Peyton, out of interest?

It was obviously Peyton. I look at it two different ways:
1. Since it was a season finale, they probably wanted a cliffhanger.
2. It may have been an homage to the Season 3 finale (the who's pregnant thing).

Ooh, I hadn't thought of that. Nice observation.
I get the cliffhanger thing too. Being reminded of how far they had come in terms of a friendship it has made me consider Brooke's place in it a little more, but like you Pacey, I never thought it would be anyone but Peyton in the end.
