Over at BB, this a pretty huge thing. I've always been an ardent 'shipper in most programmes, although until I joined fandoms like this I had no idea that's what I was doing, lol. So what about you guys? 1. Are you a self-confessed 'shipper? 2. Are you an ardent/hammer and tongs shipper? (As in are you always ready to go to bat for your couples or do you just enjoy them idly?) 3. Who are your favourite 'ships and why? My 'answers': 1. Yup, totally. I have always had an attraction to some couples over others, ever since I loved Kelly and Zack in Saved by the Bell and Tiff and Jake in California Dreams when I was really young. I have always had couples that I wanted to see together and end up together and was not a happy bunny when they were interfered with, lol. 2. Yes, I really am. I am always ready to defend my favourite couples and to gush about them. I like the couples I like for very specific reasons and am totally convinced they all deserve/d to end up together. Sometimes, I turn into the Incredible Hulk version of myself...hehe 3. My favourite couple ever is Lucas/Peyton. They are absolutely the definition of love. I just adore their journey together. Others: Ryan/Marissa: always loved these two together. They hurt each other and they put each other through hell but like with L/P it was always there between them. Buffy/Angel: what I said above also applies here I guess. Sydney/Vaughn: See above too. Joey/Eddie: Probably one of the only couples I 'ship that isn't "conventional" (as Pacey (Daniel) would say ). I just loved their dynamic, I loved how they challenged each other. As you can see, most of my couples are ones that go through hell and high water but always have an affinity with each other no matter how much times has passed or whatever. (Yes, I'm bored so I wrote this essay! )

Nice thread! 1. 'Shipping isn't my favorite aspect of a show/movie/book, but I do enjoy pairing two characters together and hoping for the best. 2. I won't randomly start ranting about 'shipping, but a debate arises I will surely participate in it. (: 3. My favorite of all time is Buffy and Spike. There are so many things wrong with this couple, but also so many things right. This is the definition of a doomed love, and hopefully it will last. I also enjoy: Pacey and Joey -- The anti- Joey/Dawson, and it's definitely the best 'ship on DC. Lucas and Peyton or Brooke. I'm one of the few that likes him with either... or maybe both. LOL I have more, but that's all for now lol.

1. Usually when I watch a show or movie or even reading I know who I want together. If they aren’t able to be together for certain reasons I am upset but I can be forgiving to that. 2. If I feel the couples were wrongly broken up or should have been paired back together yes I will stand up for them. But sometimes it is out of control for example Ryan and Marissa I love them but they couldn’t be together so I accepted Taylor. 3. My favorite is Liz Parker & Max Evans. They were so real and I always knew they were going to make it no matter what. They were just that one couple I always loved. Others: Maria & Michael They are one of my all time favorite they are very realistic. Felicity & Noel it was never Ben and Felicity to me. I think her and Noel could have lasted. Noel treated her better and truly loved Felicity and you saw this even when they weren’t together or friends. Ryan & Marissa they had their ups and downs but they did love each other it always came down to them. Spike and Buffy I loved her with angel but I felt she loved spike in a way she didn’t love angel. She grew with spike and this makes them more compatible to me. Some others are Angel and Cordelia they should have been a couple, Fred and Wesley willow and Oz and Xander and Anya. I liked alot of the buffy couples.
Pacey I agree with you Lucas could have been with Brooke to me to lol. I love Lucas and Peyton but i liked Lucas and brooke as well like if he was going to be with anyone else.

I guess I would call myself a shipper. I have my favorite couples on most of my shows. However, I do understand why they can't always be together all the time and that all relationships go through ups and downs so there are times when one character of a couple may be with someone else and I can tolerate it and maybe even enjoy certain moments. That being said my favorite ships are: Pacey/Joey Nathan/Haley Seth/Summer David/Donna Jack/Jen (technically not a couple but still a wonderful and unique relationship) Ryan/Taylor I am one of those people that liked Lucas equally with Brooke and Peyton Also, I know most BH90210 fans all prefer Dylan/Brenda and Brandon/Kelly...and I do enjoy both couples but I will also admit I equally like Dylan/Kelly which could get me shot in 90210 forum lol...

Yes, I ship. I ship hard, and I ship for the following: Quay Leyton Naley Brulian Skills/Bevin Dan/Rachel (They so evil...) Dawson/Joey Seth/Summer Ryan/Taylor Dylan/Kelly Cryan - I ship this one so hard that I created the name over at IMDB. LOL. Veronica/Logan Mary/Carlos Chuck/Georgina (Okay, it's a fantasy ship) Serena/Jenny (Yeah, that's a much naughtier fantasy. Sue me, I'm a guy ) Lindsay/Daniel Oh, and I'm still kinda rooting for Quinn/Rachel and Finn/Puck in Glee. And for Mr. Schue to finally get it on with Sue. LOL

I ship too, and have a forum dedicated to it (shameless self promotion there ;D)
Some I am a bigger fan of than others I would always be ready to go to bat for Luke/Lorelai and Lucas/Peyton.
I also like Chuck/Blair, Ryan Marissa, Dawson/Joey, Max/Liz.

Okay, I have a question for those that said they enjoy Lucas/Peyton and Lucas/Brooke equally: ARE YOU CRAZY?! Ha, no I'm kidding, that's not my question this is:
Is it just that you were happy to view both relationships or do you think that it was pretty much equally he would choose either? Do you think that Brooke/Lucas would have made the long haul?
I ask this because I genuinely do no think that Lucas/Brooke was ever going to be endgame. I mean they came to an amicable realisation that what was between them wasn't the love Whitey was describing.
This is not me being a bitch here, I'm genuinely interested, lol.

I'm positive this is directed at me LOL. To prefer a ship doesn't mean that's the one you think will be there at the end... it just means you, simply, prefer it over the other one! Brooke and Lucas had so much fun together, and he DID choose Brooke over Peyton for a brief amount of time!

Nope, it's not directed at you For one, you said you didn't prefer one over the other anyway so the first point is moot as its not what I was getting at! As for choosing her for a brief amount of time, that's not really what I mean either. It was a question that sprang from seeing some of the fan fics out there so I'm literally asking what I asked before. If you like both ships do you think that Brooke/Lucas still had the possibility of being endgame post their season 4 break up. It may be not explaining it very well but if you get what I'm saying then...go nuts.

I think I get what you are saying and asking...In the beginning (as in the first handful of episodes) when the writers are really playing up the Nathan/Peyton/Lucas triangle I am totally rooting for Lucas and Peyton to be together. I love that moment at the end of the Pilot on the river court where Lucas and Peyton just share this look...there aren't any words exchanged between them. That scene kills me! When I really start to ship Lucas and Brooke is the episode where Peyton and Brooke go to the college party and Peyton gets slipped some roofies or whatever and passes out. Thats the moment when Lucas starts to realize that there is more to Brooke Davis than meets the eye.
The things I ship about Lucas/Peyton are their shared love of music, literature, and art. They just seem to "get" each other and there really isn't any other way to describe it.
What I ship about Brooke/Lucas mostly has to do with Brooke's character. Lucas makes her a better person (at least in the beginning) she was always so vulnerable with him and I really enjoyed when we got to see those moments. She always tried to be tough but Lucas could always break those walls down and at times, was the only person that could get through. Which was ulitmately their downfall.
So to answer your question...I think Brooke Davis was one of the great loves of Lucas' life but I don't think they were soulmates. That was Peyton....they have the unspoken connection and bond that goes beyond words so I always figured they would probably end up together. That doesn't mean that I ship Brooke/Lucas any less than Peyton/Lucas.
lol did I answer the question even remotely? ;D

Yes, you did! lol, thank you!
Don't get me wrong, I don't actually dislike Brooke/Lucas, when they're together, for much the same reasons as you listed above. Plus when they're solid together Peyton is with Jake, and that's another relationship I really love. But I just don't think there was any but a really close friendship between them post season 4. Where as with L/P, cos of their emotional connection, they were always 'there'. And in season three/four I really love the friendship Lucas and Peyton have. I love when he takes the piss out of her after the shooting and is like 'so you loooove me' and about leaving before she tries to kiss him again. ha!
So, yeah you totally answered my question. Others feel free too, as well.
And yeah, I totally love that scene in the Pilot too. It's the first example of all the looks they share that carry a thousand words.
I love 'shipping, I really do!

I know, those were unrelated comments lol. I forgot the actual question! Anyway, back on topic, lol. Well, technically, no, they didn't have a chance, since Mark obviously revealed that Lucas/Peyton were his ideal couple from the start. Brooke was just the character that came and interfered with that relationship, and made it more personal since she was also a main character with individual storylines. It's hard to really go into depth when you know the couple has already been chosen. Like in Buffy, Joss left the romantic aspect of the show out in the open... it could still totally be either Spike or Angel, and when it starts leading towards one, the other shows up to mess with things, much like Brooke did, and, to an extent, Peyton did. As a character, I prefer Peyton, but I prefer the Lucas/Brooke ship over the Lucas/Peyton one, mostly because I root for the underdog. Rarely is a female character the "underdog", but in this sense, Brooke definitely is. So, that said, after Season Four, and definitely after Season Five, it was set in stone that Lucas had chosen Peyton. The proposal was in a flashback, so I can't really count that as Season Five, although I guess I can... and will lmao. And including Brooke in the montage at the end of S5 with the phone call, was, in my opinion a slight throwback to the end of Season 3 with the pregnancy thing. So yeah, Lucas and Peyton are 'it". Brooke doesn't seem to mind, though, she's definitely moved on. (:
