Aw, see, now I feel like I'm missing out on something, lol. It doesn't surprise me though. I mean, aside from a few things I didn't personally like, I have never doubted Mark Schwahn as a writer. The school shooting episodes alone are evidence enough of his amazing abilities but I have also really admired his strength. This is mainly to do with keeping Lucas and Haley as friends and never attempting to blur the lines and ruin a beautiful friendship. I've said this on other forums, and I'll say it here too, there are not enough writers out there who are strong enough to do that. Another thing that occurred to me was that I've seen several times evidence of Mark saying that L/P was always his endgame. Given that there is, arguably (for some unfathomable reason ) more B/L 'shippers than L/P, he never wavered in writing what he wanted to, y'know? And I like him for that, lol. Anyway, as you were...

I actually drafted my letter to him on a pad while I was bored at work... I just have to figure out how to send it to him, lol.

Very true Peyton...Mark always knew from the beginning that Lucas and Peyton were going to end up together and it does say a lot about him as a writer for not giving in to Brooke and Lucas since they ended up being just as popular if not more so among fans...he told the story the way he wanted to.

I think B/L was so popular in the later years mostly because of Chad and Sophia getting married IRL lol

lol, I hadn't thought of that. I did see a comment somewhere saying that's the only reason Mark chose to have L/P end up together.
For me, personally though I knew very little of the cast and stuff when I was watching and I try not to let these things blur what I see on screen. Although being involved in fandoms I know that this is not always the case!

I don't think Mark chose L/P over L/B because of Chad and Sophia's personal issues. If we go back to season 1 it was clearly about L/P and Mark has said in interviews that he knew since season 1 they would end up together. Also if we look at season 5 and 6 Chad and Sophia had scenes together so they obviously proved they could keep it professional so I think had Mark wanted B/L together it still would have happened. But that is just my opinion...

I'm with you mel. It's part of the reason I'm such an ardent L/P lover it was always going to be them and I agree with the professionalism shown between Chad and Sophia seasons five and six.
(On the side, quickly, I've noticed a few things recently where people have said that Mark said when Nathan gives Lucas that speech in season two about there being a girl in his heart he was talking about Peyton. Anyone else heard this or know where I can find a quote or something?)
Back on topic, I just watched some promos for the penultimate episode. In one of them, Haley's on the phone to someone and I'm sure she asks them to come back...it would make sense for her to be talking to Lucas but I don't know if that's just wishful thinking. Plus I don't think there's ANY way that they could have them come back without someone leaking the info, people have been pretty hot on where they've been filming/who was there etc.

I'm pretty sure she is talking to Lucas, but that doesn't necessarily mean he's coming back...

I'm pretty sure she is talking to Lucas, but that doesn't necessarily mean he's coming back... Oh no, not at all. I'm happy enough to think that it is him. The risky thing with it it, there's no way he wouldn't come back and see her. Unless they do what they did in BtVS and she just goes to see him but its all off-screen.

I'm two episodes behind the penultimate and it might be Quinn or Taylor

Well if Lucas cant come maybe they can bring Peyton you know what i mean? I hope it isnt like BTVS i know it was like that because on the extras it was said that UPN didnt want to keep connecting to the WB so they tried not to talk about angel as much which is weird to me.
But i hope Lucas and Peyton just show up.

I hate to be the Debbie Downer here but I don't think there is any way in h*ll that Lucas or Peyton will make an appearance. Also I agree we would have heard something in spoilers or leaks on the net somewhere....in last nights episode After Haley breaks down and burns the piano she says she has to go "call her mom" so I'm thinking thats who...like maybe she is going to be having a conversation with her mom in her head asking her to come back or something to that affect

Though it has been mentioned that it's nearly basketball season, it could be Nate if he's out on the road.

No, I don't think you're putting a downer on anything, I think you're just being much much more realistic than me. Well, to be honest, it was much more wishful thinking on my part to be honest. Bear in mind that I haven't been watching this season properly, just keeping up with what's going on, but how does everyone feel about what's going on with Haley at the moment? I'm not sure what to think of it. A huge part of me thinks it's very un-Haley...
