So, I'm totally steaming through my rewatch (I'm actually on season four now : ). I had honestly forgotten how amazing the high school shooting episode was, plus the one before and after it. I was literally blubbering like a baby, it is really just a heartbreaking sequence of episodes. I couldn't bear to see how Jimmy was treated and, obviously not condoning his actions, it just tore at my heart strings and I found it really difficult to watch again. Which, I'd say because it was just so well written. Anyone else got any thoughts?

I'd say that there's a strong argument that the shooting episode is one of the most powerful episodes in the history of television. I've shown it to people who hate OTH and they've been in tears by the end of it.

I'd have to agree with that. When Jimmy breaks down...man, I've got goosebumps even thinking about it.
It's why I love One Tree Hill more than any other show. Sure, it's got the exaggerated drama that not many real high school students face but underneath it all, they present the insecurities and anxieties that everyone faces.
For me, it's an episode that makes you sit back and take a look at yourself.

Yeah, no doubt. I hate to say it but if we'd had guns so easily available in this country there's almost no doubt I'd have been Jimmy Olsen. I had a horrible school experience.

Yeah, high school can be a really awful place. Kind of why I want to be a teacher; to try and make a difference and help (a romantic ideal, I'm fully aware lol).
And like I've kind of already said, I think that OTH presents that better than most other teen dramas I've seen. This whole thing about labelling people and the way they get treated because of it. I think Dawson's Creek and The O.C touched on it, but it was always more superficial and only scratching the surface.

But I admire your romanticism. As for the teen class system, check out Freaks And Geeks. They got it absolutely right in every conceivable way. Plus Linda Cardellini is awesome. LOL.

The school shooting episode is definitely a very emotional one; probably the most emotional to ever come out of Tree Hill. Still an awesome, awesome ep though.

My favourite season. It's Brucas time. Do I need to say anything else?

It's a season that definitely has a bit of everything. I love the L/P friendship that develops in that season.

Yeah, like I said in another thread despite being L/P through and through I enjoyed that relationship. I just don't think they were 'meant to be'. They could have been had Lucas not existed lol

This season does have so much and I just like the feel of it. I like all the high school years but this one was a very strong one.

I watched a few episodes of Season Three today: Isn't Ellie just the coolest person? I absolutely love her.

I loved Ellie and I still think that is one of the best scenes when she dies and Peyton says to take care of her moms basically. That part always makes me cry. Ellie was really great and I loved her and Peyton especially when they opened up to each other.

I always cry when she finds her and drops the CDs. The scenes before that though where Ellie takes her driving in the storm and when they're sat and she's brushing her hair. I think the one gets me the most is when Peyton starts to cry and says 'I don't want to go' and Ellie says 'those words will break my heart'...just so sad. I really loved the fact that she was just SO Peyton's mum lol I think she gave Peyton a lot of incredible advice and strength and faith. She was awesome!
