It would be interesting to see how the writers would handle Peyton's absence....if James goes part time then they can always explain his absence on being a sports agent...like he's off traveling signing clients or whatever. I can't think of anything for Leyton though...other than them having problems.

Ausiello has confirmed that there will be a 13 episode season... tbh, I think the fact that it's survived this long is hilarious.

Pacey I agree. I was saying if they come back do a 13 episode season so at least it is quick and not dragged out. I was actually starting to come around just to see Brooke pregnant but they look like they are speeding that up. The only things that are making me love these new seasons are Brooke + Julian and Brooke + Haley I really adore Haley now and the friendship between her and Brooke has blossomed so much. Chase's storyline has been rather interesting as well but yeah.

If it really will be 13 episodes just to tie everything up then I'm okay with that. I just hope they don't get tempted to add more and drag it out even more.

Isn't that what happened with Season 8 though?

Isn't that what happened with Season 8 though? Exactly what I was thinking. Which is why I think they might do more than the 13.

With season 8 they were given it as a trial weren't they? They had 13 episodes and then were given the back 9 when it had already started to air.
So does it sound more like they've been GIVEN 13 episodes (which could end up like S8) or have they asked for/accepted just the 13?

I mean it seems like they are starting to take it back to Old tree hill and tie it up but lately I don't trust Mark and think he is willing to let his wanting to keep going mess up the show. So we will see I guess.

Well he said in an interview that he wanted to go on as long as he could so...

Well he said in an interview that he wanted to go on as long as he could so... I picture him going for 20 seasons. This is sad actually.

Well he said in an interview that he wanted to go on as long as he could so... It depends on what he means by that doesn't it? Like does he mean as long as he can in terms of completing his story OR as long as the CW will have him? I think its sad too, Marisa. This is my favourite show but I am rapidly considering being one of those fans who sees OTH as seasons 1-6

To be honest, while I watched all of OTH (And I plan on watching Season 8 when it comes to DVD and Season 9... I've been with it too long not to), I really only *truly* enjoy few seasons: 1-4 and PARTS of 6... I did not like 5 and 7 was just too... it felt like an entirely different show to me.

Well he said in an interview that he wanted to go on as long as he could so... I picture him going for 20 seasons. This is sad actually. I'd have no problem with it going twenty seasons... so long as Mark gets over his reluctance to bring new blood into the writers' room. I often get the feeling that some of the writing staff is just phoning it in. As for the stories of Chad coming back... With James going p/t, if Chad comes back that makes he and Joy the leads in the show. Which means either Lucas and Peyton are breaking up or - here's a controversial thought - Peyton dying. Naley have always had their little spats, meaning you have the opportunity to drive them apart for episodes at a time. And, well, they say 'old friends make great lovers' and 'nobody fights quite like brothers' so... Lucas/Haley/Nathan love triangle? Wow, that's either brilliant or squicky. Remember that new blood I was talking about in the writers' room? I'm free.

LMAO, that reminds me of that director in S6 who wanted Lucas and Haley together.
I've not thought past Chad making an appearance. I actually don't think I'd want him back for a full season, especially not with Peyton.
I don't think Mark will break them up - if he does I'll punch him. Not just because I love them but because of all the things he has said about them ending up together.
Didn't the article say that they think James will sign on full time? They shouldn't have had him retire lol it would have been easy to deal with if he was away playing.

I agree Peyton this show is becoming sort of a joke like I always tell people it was amazing in the early years even until season six and they say not now I am like well... I mean not even Brooke who I adore can make me care 100%
Now if they kill Peyton or break them up I will be ticked for the fact of what Peyton said they are together now it took them about six seasons to be happy and i mean come on it would be wrong.
I am wondering what they will do with Chad. I honestly not to sound mean knew he would try to come back but Hilarie has done so well for herself since OTH. I just don't want them messing up finished story-lines.
Hopefully James will sign on full time since it is a 13 episode season.
