I wholeheartedly agree, melbell. So I 'exalted' you! lol
I definitely would like Mark to wrap it up and just be proud of what he's done, because he really should be. He's one of my favourite writers and I would hate for him to end up like Joss Whedon and not be able to know when to let something go.

Well, a great writer always writes each episode like it's the last, but leaves you wanting a little more... just in case...

Great interview. I like what he said about Life Unexpected. That is going to be like my favorite night on tv next season!
Mark made an excellent point about how the CW network runs things. They are known for giving shows that are struggling second chances, where as, if they were on another network they might not get that chance. I think it makes the fans loyal not only to the show but the network and makes more people likely to check out other shows on the CW.

Sophia Bush has dated Austin Nichols for four yearsSophia Bush has revealed she and her "One Tree Hill" co-star Austin Nichols have been dating for the last four years. The actress was rumored to have started a relationship with Nichols last year after they were spotted being intimate at the Hollywood Style Awards in October. But now Bush has opened up about the romance, admitting she and her beau actually started dating in 2006 -- two years before Nichols even started working on the TV drama. And the star is smitten with the actor, who took a job on "One Tree Hill" in 2008 and moved to be closer to her. She says, "We've been dating off and on for the past four years. I was pretty terrified. We had so many years of history prior to him coming to work on the show, and I think someone taking a job and moving their life across the country to show you how much they care is pretty much the most romantic gesture that a person could make." Bush was briefly married to former "One Tree Hill" star Chad Michael Murray in 2005. source- www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/blogs/dailydish/detail?entry_id=64440Kinda weird there was never any pics of them in 2006?

This is very interesting... 'Tree Hill' creator 'wants 200 episodes'The creator of One Tree Hill Mark Schwahn has revealed that he would love the show to have a long future. The series was recently renewed by The CW despite initially being tipped for cancellation. "Our order is 13 [episodes], but what the fans don't know is, I think every year but one our order has been 13 and 'we'll see'," Schwahn told Zap2It. "And every year, we get a full season. And I expect to get a full season again. "The actors are under contract for one more [full] year. The other thing is, at the end of the season, if we get 23 episodes we'll be at 175. So that 200 number starts to loom and looks really nice and, you know, who knows? Stranger things have happened." However, Schwahn added that he will be happy even if the show does not get renewed. "We'll still be so fortunate to have been able to resolve the journey in some creative way that is satisfying to our fanbase," he said. "If they tell me it's the last season, that'll be wonderful and we'll tell you and we'll act accordingly. But no-one's said that so far, so I'm just going to set my star for the middle of the season - at 13 - and then, you know, they'll tell me at some point whether we're going further and I'll obviously have a plan for that." Schwahn recently admitted that he expected the show to be renewed for an eighth season. source- www.digitalspy.com/ustv/s36/one-tree-hill/news/a222122/tree-hill-creator-wants-200-episodes.html

Wow, I had no idea Mark wanted it to last so long, lol. The thing is tha they've reached that stage where Mark must have at least half an eye on 90210's record of 296 episodes/ten seasons. OTH is rapidly closing in on both records at a time when conventional wisdom says a teen drama gets four years.

Yeah, but 90210 had those two summer seasons, and they barely ever went on hiatus, resulting in those 30+ long episode seasons. They really don't do that anymore, haha.

Tree Hill has been going for a long time! You guys are right, the only teen drama to outlast it so far is BH90210...either way it will be interesting to see what plays out and if it does go beyond an 8th season it will be very interesting to see where the show goes and what stories are told!

Just wondering, does anyone know or have a list of the teen dramas with the most amount of episodes? Or maybe all teen dramas from Longest to Shortest? haha, my curiosity is yet again making people go out of their way for information.

Not sure on episode count but as far as seasons go... BH90210- 10 One Tree Hill- 8 Dawson's Creek- 6 The O.C.- 4 Gossip Girl- 4 90210- 3 Vampire Diaries- 2 (shows that are still airing new eps I counted next season which of course has yet to start airing)
Of course it all depends on what makes a show a "teen drama"...I don't keep tabs on them all....feel free to add to the list....then there are all the ones that got canceled... My So-Called Life- 1 Freaks and Geeks- 1 Life as We Know It- 13 episodes Young Americans- 13 episodes
