Burton Rules out One Tree Hill return
Hilarie Burton has confirmed that she will not be returning to One Tree Hill.
Fans had hoped that Burton and her former co-star Chad Michael Murray would reprise their roles as Peyton and Lucas this season. Rumors have suggested that the show will not be picked up for a ninth run.
However, Zap2It reports that Burton has ruled out a return because she doesn't have time.
"Unfortunately it gets to a point where your personal life doesn't necessarily allow a whole lot of room anymore for just jumping on a plane and going wherever," she said.
Burton added that she is on good terms with the cast and crew of One Tree Hill.
"I have such fondness for that period in my life, and I love all the people there," she said. "So while that's a place that I love and it's an experience in my life that I really love, I don't think that it's going to work out. I still communicate with everybody back there. And I love them as a whole. But no, I don't think it's going to work out. I'm sorry."
Burton is currently working on White Collar, which airs on Tuesdays at 10/9c on USA.

I read this the other day but it wasn't a quote by her so I ignored it. But this it doesn't seem I can argue with. All I can hold on to is she's lying to keep it under wraps LOL.

I know it's very sad. Now the question remains will CMM return? I'm not sure how I would feel about a return without Peyton. Just wouldn't seem right. At the same time I would like to see Lucas come back mostly to see him with Nathan and Haley.

Okay, I'm all out of hope now, Schwahn has also ruled out LP returning:
"Sorry, Leyton fans: One Tree Hill showrunner Mark Schwahn has officially put the rumors to rest, telling me exclusively that Chad Michael Murray and Hilarie Burton will not be returning to the long-running CW drama before Season 8 signs off.
“It’s not going to happen,” a disappointed Schwahn reveals. “We won’t be seeing them this year.”
Talk of the fan faves’ OTH reappearance has been swirling all season, and seemed all but certain just a few months ago. So what went wrong?
“Quite frankly, we just couldn’t make a deal,” Schwahn explains. “Hilarie now has a child and a family, and she’s doing some nice work [on USA's White Collar, where Burton is now a series regular]. Chad was working on a movie (The Haunting In Georgia) down in Louisiana, and there were dates we were trying to work around, but it’s tricky when you try to line up all those stars sometimes.”
“Everybody had the best intentions,” Schwahn adds, making clear that both actors were interested in returning for what might (or might not) be the show’s final season. “But at the end of the day, it just didn’t work out.”
As for fans still disappointed by Leyton’s failure to RSVP for the wedding of Brooke (played by Sophia Bush) and Julian (Austin Nichols), Schwahn is right there with you. “Creatively, I would have loved to have them,” he tells me, “or even at the end of the season. But unfortunately, it wasn’t meant to be.""

This just sucks! I am upset about this I hope at least Dan comes back because it just seems weird for the series to end without them especially Lucas because that is what the show was about for a long time.

And rumour also has it that Tyler Hilton will be returning as the one and only Chris Keller but this doesn't seem to be AS confirmed as Paul.

OMG! *jumping up and down* sooo excited! I always felt like it's just not OTH without Paul/Dan and I couldn't agree more that a Tyler Hilton return is long overdue! He was one of my favorite guest stars of the entire series! This just might be enough to get me back into the show! I still gotta finish watching season 8 lol.

Man, I hope Tyler does some songs from the last EP while he's in town. They need a bigger audience.

This is a pretty interesting article about the future of the CW network as whole. I'm only going to post the bit regarding OTH...
Pedowitz also announced that the ninth and final season of One Tree Hill would be 13 episodes long, no more no less, when it debuts next year. James Lafferty will return for seven of those episodes
Guess that confirms our Nathan/James questions...
